On Tuesday Elizabeth and I went to see Cartier and America at the Legion of Honor. We took Oliver along so he could get ideas for Mother’s Day gifts, and so Gavin could get some work accomplished. They had some really cool pieces, and some that were so jewel encrusted they looked like modern-day costume jewelry.
After we walked through the Cartier exhibit, Oliver led us on a rousing self-guided tour of the open galleries. He proudly walked along clutching my finger, stopping to inspect the various benches, and grinning wildly at the security detail. Elizabeth followed behind us with the stroller.
The moment we got outside, Oliver took off again. He didn’t want my finger for assistance, he wanted to walk.
When he was done walking, he played in the rocks. Not gem-quality rocks, gravel-quality rocks.
He was pretty thrilled by them.
