pudding + cookie dough = bad idea (maybe not?)

I am always on the lookout for a good cookie recipe so when I found Award winning Soft Chocolate Chip cookies on All Recipies.com I decided to give it a try.

I was more than skeptical of the use of pudding in cookies. I’ve seen plenty of cake mixes with “pudding in the mix” splashed across the boxes, but in cookies, what would that do?

My curiosity got the best of me and I picked up the requisite two packages of pudding mix. Then I read the recipe closer, it made 72 cookies… I cut the recipe in half.

I am skeptical of pudding in cookies. I know they’re supposed to be “soft” but they attempted to fall apart when I put them on the cooling racks.

Over all I am unimpressed with how they turned out. They are bland, and the texture is awful. They may look good, but the flavor and texture are such a turn off I don’t think I will ever make them again (or keep the recipe).

Update: Gavin has deemed the cookies “pretty good” and he “wouldn’t mind” if I made them again.

Update 2: Gavin has informed me the cookies “are VERY popular” with his co-workers. I suppose I will keep the recipe after all, besides, I still have a package of vanilla pudding.
